Peace Bracelet: ASOS

Certified animal lover here, both real and in print! I am the kind who cries when I visit a zoo, I always feel that the caged animals there are so sad and that in turn saddens me. My house is full of animal decor (paintings, ceramic ormaments and deer heads). With animal prints anticipated to show up front and enter for Fall 2012, I was very excited to find this Zebra print tank on ASOS. I swoon each time I look at it :).

Anyone else in love with the Starbucks summer Coconut creme Frappuccino as I am?

Oxtail Stew

I took some time out of my semi-busy schedule to whip dinner for me and my guy. It consists of staples from Zimbabwe; okra, sadza and oxtail stew. The later is considered a delicacy there and somewhat here (it’s a bit pricy). Oxtail stew is one of my all time favorite; growing up my mom used to ma e it all the time, when I see the word hearty, it is what comes to mind for me.

If you love trying ethnic foods here is a great recipe from the NY Times. I used my very own which is hard to share since I don’t do measurements, after making it for so many years it’s so intuitive. If anyone wants to try my recipe, let me know in the comments and I will retrace my steps and share.

Oxtail Stew Recipe.

1.Boil the oxtail until tender (everyone has their own tender pref I pref not too tender)
2.After all the water evaporates, add 3tblespoon oil, spices of choice. I use paprika, black pepper.
3.Saute until golden brown.
4.Add onions, peppers of choice (green/red) and saute until onions are done
5.Add tomatoes and let it simmer at low heat until all the tomatoes are cooked.
6.Add some water(a cup) and beef stew mix (from walmart)
7.Continue to simmer on low heat.
8.I usually also add fresh basil during the last simmer.

Alphabet Tights on date night

Dress:French Connection (only available in size 4 and 6, similar here)
Alphabet tights: House of Holland
Shoes:Kurt Geiger
Watch:Michael Kors
Bag:Antonio Melani (cute red pouch here)

This is a little white dress I wore on a recent little date night. Paired it with my favorite House of Holland Alphabet tights. Aren’t they the cutest? I did not know how self conscious I was until I took pictures in a public area where there is a lot of foot traffic. Uhmmm, I won’t be doing that again anytime soon.

Going Red

Dress:ASOS (similar & cheaper version here)
Jacket:Zara (similar here)
Watch:Michael Kors
Earrings:Oscar dela Renta

Aside from the little black dress, I think one must have piece in any girl’s closet is a red dress (little or …). It seems like most girls (myself included) tend to shy away from red dresses unless it’s Valentine’s day or the Chinese New Year. I have since realized that I can always neutralize the bold red look by throwing a blazer or jacket on top. This Zara biker leather jacket did just that for me.
