No pain no gain: Eyebrow threading

June 29, 2011

One of the reasons why I started this blog was to share my experiences with readers so that when they enconter the same thing they have something to compare to. This last week, for the first time, I experienced eyebrow threading. Whoa, this thing hurts like no other! I have never experienced as much pain in the name of beauty as this. That been said, I love the results and I will do it all over again (with some change to my pre-procedure routine).

For many years, I have been having my eyebrows waxed. Lately though, I have been getting neurotic health aware (thanks to an episode of Dateline) and monitoring the waxing process. I noticed that they dip the wax stick in the same wax pot for everybody! That can’t be hygienic, it’s like double dipping chips in a shared dip! I am not saying that there is germs sharing involved, but why take the chance. So, I said sayonara to eyebrow waxing and hello to threading.

The fact that it’s very clean (they use only a cotton thread), the hair takes longer to re-grow and it arches the shape of the eyebrows nicely, makes me give this a big PLUS in my books. I will definitely do this again but next time I will make sure I take a Tylenol hours before the procedure to alleviate the pain. They say no pain to gain people.

Here is a picture of my eyebrows I took right after the threading.

  1. Excellent blog! Do you have any recommendations for aspiring writers?
I’m planning to start my own site soon but I’m a little lost
on everything. Would you suggest starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for a paid option? There
are so many options out there that I’m completely confused ..
    Any tips? Cheers!

  4. I get mine done quite often and while I feel a little bit of discomfort, I wouldn’t say that it’s super bad. I suspect that it may vary from salon to salon. When I first had them done it hurt but the second time I went somewhere else and it wasn’t bad at all. I suppose that maybe I just knew what to expect the second time so it didn’t bother me.

  5. I have always wondered how those cute eyebrows come out.well for me i wont take tylenol but probably tell the beautician to speed up the process ie the quicker the less pain.I will definitely try it

  6. great pic. the threading shouldnt hurt so much. May be try some other place u will see it doesnt hurt. lol i will make sure to keep coming back …xoxoxox

      1. It’s not just you. I’ve been getting mine done for 5 years now and it STILL hurts! I think I just have a very low tolerance for pain. I usually am teary-eyed by the end but as much as it hurts, I still get them done because I love the end result.. I’ve heard that putting ice beforehand can numb them, but I have yet to try it.
