Bold prints are a statement maker, they are just bam!..right there. You cannot miss them even if you try. Because of that I always try to tone them down a bit by introducing another draw to the eye, bright colors! I know it sound weird that you will pair an eye catcher with another eye catcher, but bold prints and bright colors always work so well together.

I bought this Lisa Perry dotted gown during the Barneys end of season sale. I loved it when I first saw it and immediately added to cart. It sat in there for a while until they had extra 20% off on all sale items and I realized it was the last one in my size left (they do tell you, talk about pressure). I wasn’t sure what to expect because at first glance it looks like an oversized polka dot dress with an open front paired with black pants. I was pleasantly surprised when I got it, it’s up there on my favorites things in my closet list. I paired it with this yellow Zara blazer (wearing an S but can still fit an XS) and for a more structured look added the GG belt (this belt has been a life saver!). For shoes I wearing the ever classic Manolo Blahnik ‘BB’ Pointy Toe Pump.

Let me tell you a little story about the little sunglasses I am wearing. The little sunglasses trend almost passed me. I would always stare at them through my rearview mirror as I zoomed past through, on magazines, bloggers, celebrities and such. The first time when I actually saw someone wearing them I literally laughed out loud. I though people had gone made! But here, I am wearing them. What happened then? I decided to just try them on and I thought they looked ok on me and their price is also little (lol) ( they are currently on sale for 40% off). The worst that could have happened was me returning them if they didn’t work out. To be fair, I didn’t get the teeny teeny ones and also I have a small head so the scale is a match. My 4 year old daughter made my day this week when she said to me, “Mommy you have a small head”. Out of nowhere! No solicitation or anything, she just felt she had to tell me (lol). You want an honest and real opinion, ask a 4 year old.

Anyhow back to outfits; look around in your closet to see if you have any pieces with bold geometric prints (it can be a skirt, top or dress) that you can pair with another bold color piece. If you want to add these classic pairings to your closet, I have rounded up a few pieces I like that you can shop for below:
